Most of the times, it ends up as a parental decision because the people who are to get married are so busy with their professinal lives, that they get no time to think about nuances. And hence, THE BIG DECISION is taken by parents. Of course today, many don't even feel the need for a wedding photographer...as every second person attending it..specially friends would always carry a small digital box, almost like a purse. But of course, the author is quite correct with her/his version of the story as well.
